Filling your steam generator iron is simplicity itself. You can fill the detachable water reservoir straight from the tap.
Whilst this is certainly convenient, it should be noted that the large majority of households in the UK will be in a hard water supply area. The water will contain a variety of different minerals including magnesium and calcium. When the water is boiled to generate the steam this can lead to scale deposits. These will gradually fur up your iron if left untreated and will greatly reduce the operating efficiency – or possibly even lead to breakdown.
The Tefal Pro Express range incorporates a special “anti calc” system which traps the scale in a special collector located in the base unit. When the collector is full an orange light will flash. Simply unscrew the collector and hold it under running tap water to flush the scale away. Reinsert the collector back in the base unit once it’s been cleaned and you’re ready to start ironing again.
This easy to use system will not only ensure that your iron operates at peak performance but will extend the lifetime of the iron.
Easy Filling And Fast Heat Up
The Tefal Pro Express features a large 1.8 litre water tank that should allow you to fit in around two hours worth of ironing between top ups.
However, when it does come time to refill the reservoir it couldn’t be easier. The water tank can be removed from the base unit and taken to a tap. Simply fill it up with tap water and then replace it back in the base unit.
A fast heat up system means that, even when starting with a full load of cold water, it takes no more than two minutes to get back up to temperature and be ready to start ironing again.
Plenty Of Steam For Faster Ironing
The Tefal Pro Express range delivers plenty of steam that will penetrate deeply into the fabric of the garment being ironed and make it both easier and faster for you to get your ironing finished.
The fact that the water is contained in the base unit rather than in the body of the iron means that it is lighter and easier to manipulate.
Tefal’s patented ceramic “Ultragliss Turbo” soleplate is scratch resistant, easy to clean and simply glides over the fabric being pressed.
A specially designed comfort handle increase usability even further. The end result is that the time you need to spend ironing is much reduced – most users report a reduction of around 50%. Not only that, but the finished garments look better as well.
You can even use the Tefal Pro Express in vertical mode to steam the creases out of curtains or suits on hangers. However, whatever you do, don’t be tempted to “smarten up” any items which are being worn by someone. This may have been possible with conventional steam irons – but the amount of steam generated by these irons is considerably greater than you would get from a traditional steam iron.
User Friendly Cord System
Tefal’s “Ultracord” system allows you to position the cord of the iron wherever it suits you best such that it doesn’t foul or snag on either your hand or the garment being ironed.
The cord is also a good length at 1.8 m, which allows you to position the unit on the floor rather than at the end of the ironing board should you wish.
The majority of people will probably prefer to have it at the end of the board – but if you have a relatively small ironing board then positioning it on the floor may suit you better.
Steam generator irons can save you a lot of time ironing – a household chore which sometimes seems never ending. Most users report a reduction of around 50% – but it could be a little more or a little less for you. It probably depends on how much ironing you do and what type of fabrics you’re working with.
Whilst it’s certainly true that steam generator irons cost a bit more than conventional steam irons, the time saving makes them, for many people, an attractive proposition and good value for money. Having taking a long time over buying this product because of the price, I can now say it was well worth the money, it makes ironing a pleasure. The ironing is so easy with this iron it really is great, its all good nothing bad about it so go on spoil yourself and make doing the ironing a pleasure instead of a chore. I would never go back to a normal iron now.

This has got to be the best iron i have ever had, after endlessly searching and reading reviews for a good steam generator iron i settled on this one and very glad i did, i found it a bit on the expensive side but you get what you pay for. When i first got it out of the box it looked complicated, far from it,this iron is so easy to use and really does cut ironing time in half, i would never go back to a normal iron again its a luxury i can’t do without. The large water tank is great as it will do a large amount of laundry before you need to re-fill even on continuous steam.I have used it on my newly hung cutains, it effortlessly removed the creases in no time.I used to dread ironing, now i quite enjoy it (until the novelty wears off).I would also recommend getting a good vented ironing board, (i bought the Brabantia) to get the best results from your iron as the steam needs to travel through.Go on treat yourself, My husband said, he would of treated me to one if he’d have known how happy it would make me …….mmmmmm as ever, always generous after the event.
As usual i have recieved great service and prompt delivery from Amazon.

Had my doubts about this purchase but am pleased to say that this makes easy work of ironing. Everything is done in half the time and it gets out the most stubborn of creases. Great for vertical steaming too.

I no longer dread ironing. I can’t wait for my washing to dry so that I can use this fantastic iron. The steam function is superb and I no longer have crinkly sheets, iron them when they are damp or spray them with water before ironing. A lot of money, but well worth it.

Personally speaking, I see housework as a necessary evil. It has to be done, and I don’t really mind it, but I don’t want to spend too much time on it. If you would like to visit our other blogs on time saving household gadgets, then why not check out the links below:
